Nicki Kapron Scholarship - $2000
The Nicki Kapron Scholarship Fund was established in the year 2000 from a bequest made to Zonta Club of Southfield Area from the Nicki Kapron family. Nicki Kapron was an active Zontian for more than 15 years. The scholarship is offered to working women much like Nicki who are “returning to a college or university to advance her education” and who meet other criteria as outlined in these guidelines. Nicki exemplified a positive attitude even while overcoming many of life’s obstacles. Zonta International is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women worldwide. With her leadership and commitment to community service, Nicki Kapron was a living testimony to the ideals of
Zonta International.
The Nicki Kapron Scholarship, funded by the Zonta Club of Southfield Foundation, is awarded to working women currently enrolled in a college or university in Oakland county. The maximum scholarship amount is up to $2,000.00 (USD).
Award recipients may be eligible for consecutive scholarships upon re-applying.

Young Women in Public Affairs Award - $500
This award is to encourage more young women to participate in public and political life by recognizing a commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women. The applicant must be a pre-university or pre-college woman student, aged 16-20 at the time of application. She must write an essay about student and community service activities, international awareness, the status of women in the United States and worldwide. The club winner also competes for an award at the district level for $500 and at the international level for $1000.
High School Service Awards - $500
This award is to encourage junior and senior high school women residents of and/or attending school in the communities of Southfield and Highland Park to engage in volunteer and community service activities. The applicant must submit two letters of recommendation, one of which attests to the applicant’s community service, and a 400-word essay about what
motivates the applicant to perform community service and
how does the applicant’s volunteerism improves the quality of life in her community.
